QuizFest 2024

Posted 20 Aug, 2024 12:40 PM by Karl

QuizFest 2024 will be on Saturday, October 19, at College Church University Avenue, by Olivet Nazarene University.  Material covered is Luke 1-8.

Registration is open to local teams.  Accepted combinations are those that quiz as a team on their district.  Other combinations may register (with prior permission) but are unable to compete for team placement.  Registration opens at 8:23 pm, on Friday, August 23, 2024 - and closes at 10:10 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024, accepting changes through Wednesday, October 16 at 11:59 pm – all times are Central Time Zone.  So open is 8:23 pm on 8-23, close is 10:10 pm on 10-10.

Registration Fees:

$45 - Varsity Team

$35 - Junior Varsity Team

$5 Discount for each team with multiple teams from one church

$10 Discount - First team to register - discount refunded on site - two different teams will receive registration and distance discounts.

$10 Discount - Team coming the farthest (from church to church, by google maps) - discount refunded on site - two different teams will receive registration and distance discounts.

$5 Discount – For a church team that has never come to QuizFest before... or has not come in the past 10 years.  This is granted to each team that qualifies - but only one such discount for a church bringing multiple teams.

When registered, mail registration check to:

Karl Tabor / 4584 Route 37 / Marion, IL  62959

Division Guidelines:

  • We plan on two divisions, Varsity and Junior Varsity.  If not enough JV teams we will only quiz Varsity, and JV registered teams can switch or opt out.  Award quantities will be balanced by divisional registrations.
  • These are recommendations, not hard and fast requirements.  Final decision is Coach's option.
    • We suggest that most quiz teams should quiz in Varsity.
    • If at least two quizzers on the team do not fit into the Junior Varsity definition, the team should quiz Varsity.  With only one Varsity quizzer, it is appropriate for the team to quiz in Junior Varsity.
    • The team of any quizzer who has at least once made their Field quiz-off for Field Quiz Teams - should quiz in Varsity, even if their team-mates would otherwise be in Junior Varsity.
    • Principal reasons to be in Junior Varsity (these teams CAN quiz Varsity, if preferred):
      • Quizzers are first year
      • Quizzers are in grades 6-8

Lots of quizzing.  Long round robin preliminaries, short tournament (maybe finals only), many awards and scholarships.  We will allow question-answer/question-answer format on multiples, as well as traditional question-question/answer-answer.  There are awards for top teams and top individual quizzers - and for top memory verse scorers - all in both Divisions - Olivet scholarships in conjunction with Varsity awards, including Top 3 teams, all top individuals AND top memory verse scorers.  We hope to help quiz teams get off to a great start in the Book of Luke.

Please note:

  • Scholarships – Olivet is being generous once again and we will award $19,500 in Olivet Bible Quiz Scholarships at QuizFest 2024!
  • Housing – We are not able to make this available.  Teams who need to stay over should make their own arrangements.
  • Lunch will be available – Menu and cost TBD. This is handled separately as a local church youth group fund-raiser.  More information to follow.
  • Register equipment if you can - and get your favorite officials to register.
